On March 3, 2004, [[Biel Sheppard]], [[Charlie Belrose]], and [[Jakey Goldstrom]] were shot at and attacked with a firebomb by unknown assailants while leaving [[Le Forum Montréal]]. Sheppard and Belrose were hospitalized, while Goldstrom only sustained minor injuries. Belrose made a full recovery and returned to play the following season. However, Sheppard died from complications from her burns and gunshot wound the next day. There is a memorial garden planted where the attack took place. The stadium itself was also heavily damaged from the fire. Several extremist right-wing organizations claimed responsibility for the attack, but none have been confirmed.
